Who We Are
This digital archive is dedicated to documenting the queer and trans response to COVID-19. Featuring a collection of primary source material to highlight the personal responses of queer and trans people, as well as the responses from the state, medical organizations, and activist groups, this archive tracks the unique impact of a global health crisis on the LGBTQ community.
Having experience with reading through archives ourselves, we recognized the importance of recording this history that will likely still be underrepresented. Our hope is that this archive may serve as the beginning of more comprehensive historical narrative about the pandemic. Whether to be read by future historians or those looking for resources now, we sincerely hope it may be of some use.
Hello! Aaron Wiegand and Eleanor Franklin are the creators of this archive. We are two Johns Hopkins University students currently quarantined in New Jersey, USA. This archive, initially a final project for the History of Modern Medicine, was our shared mission to record and collect queer and trans responses to the pandemic. It is personally important to us, and we felt it was a story that was at risk of being overlooked in the telling of this historical moment.
